Technological installations for liquid ammonia storage

Technological installations for the storage of liquid ammonia consist of:

  • storage tanks for anhydrous ammonia of any capacity. The tanks are made of stainless steel, electrically heated with thermal insulation;
  • compressor units for ammonia vapors;
  • with Ex control switchboards and I&C apparatus;
  • sets of electric evaporators with complete equipment;
  • reloading stations adapted to the requirements of TDT and to work in a potentially explosive zone, equipped with hermetic upper and lower unloading arms - liquid and gas phase. The arms are equipped with a nitrogen purge line, position sensors and safety fittings, e.g. emergency disconnection couplings. The upper position with lowered stairs is equipped with a protective basket for the operator and position sensors;
  • control and measurement equipment and automation monitoring the flow, pressure and temperature of the process, enabling safe work with ammonia.

The scope of the delivery of the devices and their selection are adjusted individually to the project requirements.

Installations for loading tanks with liquid sulfur with a measuring system and a service platform

Filling stations for the top loading of tanks with liquid sulfur consist of:

  • service platform with lovered stairs equipped with a safety cage;
  • pneumatic product shut-off valve;
  • upper sulfur filler arm or arms with exhaust line, cone and tank overflow sensor. The arms are heated by steam or with electricity and are pneumatically controlled from the level of the platform, or by a remote control located on the loading cone;
  • control and measurement equipment, including: flow meters, pressure and temperature sensors, grounding controllers etc .;
  • measurement systems based on mass flow meters (with a heating jacket) and electronic management systems based on microload controller;
  • double-jacket piping enabling continuous heating of the product in the pipeline with heating steam, together with specially made inspection openings of the pipeline.

The subject of the implementation was the modernization of the top-down loading station for liquid sulfur along with the construction of a new service platform, modernization of the heating steam line and installation of a measuring system with a mass flow meter and filling head, modernization and adaptation of the existing electrical and I&C installations and connection to the existing DCS system. The entire station was made in accordance with the applicable regulations of the Transport Technical Inspection in the field of NO Devices.

The scope of work included the dismantling of the existing liquid sulfur loading installation which did not comply with the current regulations of the Transport Technical Inspection. The newly constructed installation was to cooperate with the existing infrastructure (pumps, I&C metering, control, etc.). Therefore, the electrical installation of the newly built station was incorporated into the existing electrical installation of the facility.

Railway tanker liquid fuels unloading stations

The stations have been designed for the needs of unloading rail tankers from liquid fuels at reloading terminals and are adapted to work in an area at risk of explosion.

The stations consist of:

  • hoses intended for liquid fuels, equipped with breakaway couplings and couplings for rail tank cars. The hoses can be protected against damage with an additional spiral shield;
  • parking meters, i.e. devices used to connect hoses while at rest;
  • shut-off ball valves equipped with drives and limit switches as needed;
  • of the system control and measurement and automation equipment designed to control the liquid fuel distribution process;
  • grounding controllers for tanks


Basic specification of hoses designed for unloading rail tank cars:

  • composite hoses DN50-DN100 PN10 of any length intended for liquid fuels, ended with any type of coupling;
  • working pressure of NO devices: up to 10bar;
  • DN50-DN100 emergency disconnect couplings, marked CE;
  • DN50-DN100 PN16 / 40 dry break couplings with a rail tank connection, CE marked;
  • flange sight glasses for visual fluid control;
  • standard range working temperatures for hoses, fittings and connectors from -29˚C to + 60˚C

The range of diameters, pressures and temperatures for hoses, fittings and couplings is individually adapted to the requirements of the project.
